ICE2EV EV Scrappage Scheme at Bolands Wexford Town

The Government's ICE2EV EV Scrappage Scheme offers eligible motorists the opportunity to save up to €8,500 when switching from an older petrol or diesel vehicle to a new electric vehicle.

The scheme includes:

  • €5,000 EV Scrappage Allowance for eligible vehicles (2013 or older)
  • €3,500 SEAI Grant for eligible new electric vehicles

Scheme Budget

A total budget of €10 million has been allocated to the scheme:

  • 65% reserved for rural applicants
  • 35% reserved for urban applicants
The customer's Eircode will be used to determine eligibility based on CSO urban/rural classifications. Once funding for either category is exhausted, applications for that category will close.
Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the ICE2EV EV Scrappage Scheme, the following conditions apply:

  • Scrappage is available only on new grant-eligible M1 Electric Vehicles registered for private use from 262 registrations onwards.
  • Applications open from 1 July 2026. Vehicles scrapped before the application date are not eligible for the scrappage payment.
  • Private passenger cars only qualify for scrappage.
  • The vehicle being scrapped must be registered in 2013 or earlier.
  • The applicant must have owned the scrapped vehicle for at least 12 months before scrapping.
  • The scrapped vehicle must have: 
  • A valid tax disc
  • Valid insurance
  • An NCT that is either current or expired by no more than six months before the application date.
  • The vehicle must be scrapped through Bolands Wexford Town when purchasing your new eligible EV.
  • Private scrappage arrangements are not accepted.
  • Bolands Wexford Town will apply the eligible scrappage allowance and grant directly to the purchase price of your new EV. The dealer is subsequently reimbursed by the SEAI.
  • The scrappage scheme will remain open only while the €10 million budget is available. If funding is exhausted, the scrappage element will close, although standard EV purchase grants may continue.
Applicant Details

The name and address of the grant applicant should match across:

  • The grant application form
  • The logbook of the scrapped vehicle
  • The invoice for the new EV
  • The registration details of the new EV
If the address or Eircode on the application or invoice differs from that on the scrapped vehicle's logbook, recent proof of address in the applicant's name will be required.
Please note: If the scrapped vehicle's logbook is registered in the name of a cohabiting partner, the application may still be accepted, provided suitable proof of address is supplied.
